HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU softball dropped a mid-week doubleheader to Army on Wednesday afternoon.
Army piled on the runs in game one of the doubleheader. The Black Knights scored two quick runs in the first on two sacrifice flies. Army unloaded in the third inning, scoring seven runs off FDU starter
Sierra Albright. The offensive firepower was capped by a three-run fifth inning, giving the Black Knights a 12-0 lead. FDU was unable to get their offense going, mustering just four hits off the Army pitching staff. FDU fell by a 12-0 final after five innings.
Army kept their offensive mojo going into game two. The Black Knights scored six runs in the top of the first, immediately taking control of the game. The Black Knights tacked on four more runs in the second to take an early 10-0 lead. FDU got a run across the board in the bottom of the third, as
Brianna Holguin worked a bases-loaded walk. That would be the only run FDU would score in the loss. Army took things by a score of 11-1 after five innings.
FDU will head back into NEC play on Friday when they travel to face Le Moyne. The Knights and Dolphins will play a doubleheader on Friday, with first pitch coming at 1 p.m. Coverage will be available on NEC Front Row.
