HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU softball started off their weekend series with a 3-0 loss to LIU on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams seemed to struggle offensively early in the matchup, with only five players getting on base and zero runs scored through the first four innings. The Knights were able to keep the Sharks at bay with a stellar performance from starting pitcher
Jamie Sencion who earned a season high 9 strikeouts in 21 at bats. However, LIU finally broke through in the top of the fifth putting the first run of the game on the board on a single up the middle. The Sharks then extended their lead in the top of the seventh on a double that brought in the final two runs of the game. The Knights were unable to respond, giving LIU a 3-0 win.
Tomorrow afternoon FDU faces off against LIU again in a double header in Hackensack with the first pitch being thrown at 12 p.m.
