FDU Appoints Steve Arnold as First-Ever Women's Flag Football Coach

HACKENSACK, N.J.- Senior Associate Vice President/Director Athletics Bradford Hurlbut officially announced the appointment of Steve Arnold as FDU's first-ever Women's Flag Football Head Coach on Monday morning.
 
"We are thrilled to officially introduce Steve Arnold as our first-ever Head Women's Flag Football Coach," said Senior Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Brad Hurlbut. "It takes a special individual to build a program from the ground up, and throughout the interview process, it became evident that Steve possesses the necessary traits to be successful. We are looking forward to watching his vision unfold as the team begins competing next Spring." 
 
FDU launched its newest varsity program on December 12, 2025. The Women's Flag Football team will begin competition in the spring of 2026.
 
"I'm incredibly grateful to join FDU at such an exciting time for women's sports and flag football," stated Arnold. "Our mission is to develop future leaders through athletics by helping student-athletes grow as competitors and as people. FDU has everything needed to build a program rooted in strong values, meaningful relationships, and competitive excellence."
 
Arnold has previous experience as both a coach and administrator in various flag football leagues. Most notably, he founded Metro Flag Football in 2015. Arnold's teams won nine regional and five national championships. He developed the 2024 Flag Football Player of the Year, as well as coached two players selected in the NFL Draft.
 
Recently, Arnold joined Benedictine in Illinois as an assistant coach with their women's flag football program.
 
In 2025, Arnold began as a Curriculum Development Instructor for the National Football League. At the NFL, Arnold helped standardize coaching practices and development programs for flag football He acted as an ambassador for a sport which during its rapid growth.
 
Prior to these positions, Arnold served as a youth and high school coach in Leesburg, Va.
 
The Knights will compete in the ECAC Women's Flag Football League, which is powered by the New York Jets.
