HERSHEY, Pa. – The FDU men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Saint Francis on Friday afternoon. The Knights finish the regular season with an 8-12 record, but a 5-1 NEC record has them primed for next week's conference championships.
Thomas Linley and
Gryffin Minor set the tone at no. 1 doubles with a 6-4 victory. On the next court over
Joshua Oboniye and
Andrew Nicolae sewed up a 6-3 victory. At no. 3 doubles
Tauras Mickus and Gareth Ong completed a clean FDU sweep with a 6-3 victory.
The first two singles matches went Saint Francis' way. However,
Asaf Schwartz got the first FDU singles point of the day at no. 3. He won 7-6, 7-5 with a first set tiebreaker that ended 10-8. On the no. 4 court,
Andrew Nicolae delivered a thrilling 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 victory. The third set tiebreaker was won 9-7.
Jorge Alonso-Cortes continued to play well for the Knights in this match. He won 6-4, 6-3 in convincing fashion. Ong closed out the day with a 7-6, 6-4 victory on the no. 6 court.

The NEC Championships are set to begin on Thursday, April 17, at Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
