FAIRFIELD, CT – FDU softball (9-13, 2-1) dropped both games of a doubleheader against Sacred Heart on Thursday afternoon. The Knights fell 8-1 in the opening game, and 7-0 in game two.
Game 1
The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the first game, when Celeste Quezada laced an RBI single to put the Knights on the board. However, a monstrous second inning from Sacred Heart quickly turned the tides. The Pioneers plated seven runs in the second to take control of the game. They would not look back from that point on. FDU was able to pick up a few hits, but left nine on base, and were unable to overcome the large deficit.
Game 2
The final match-up of the doubleheader saw Sacred Heart jump out to another quick lead. A four-run first innings got the Pioneers ahead, and provided momentum for the remainder of the game. The Knights were shut down by a dominant performance from the Pioneer pitching staff. A single by Brianna Holguin in the sixth inning was the only hit the Knights recorded.
