Men's Basketball Preview: FDU Celebrates Tom Green Day

HACKENSACK, N.J. - For the first time in over a month, FDU (6-11, 2-0) will play a home game. The Knights take on Saint Francis U (6-11, 1-2) tomorrow, January 12, at 1 p.m. in Hackensack. FDU is set to honor the winningest coach in program history, Tom Green.

The Knights are coming off a hard-fought double overtime victory at Le Moyne on Friday night. In a marathon marked by foul trouble on both sides, FDU outlasted the Dolphins in the 91-86 win. It was their first double overtime win since they took down CCSU exactly five years to the date on 1/10/2019. The Knights forced Le Moyne into 20 turnovers and cashed in 27 points on those miscues. FDU, on the other hand, coughed it up just 11 times in the 50-minute contest. Terrence Brown led the way with 25 points and a perfect 11-11 mark at the line. Jo'el Emanuel poured in a season-high 19 points and Bismark Nsiah stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds and five assists.

FDU's offense continues to click. They lead the league at 78.5 points per game and are second in made threes and three-point percentage. They have scored 70 points or more in 15 of their 17 contests. In addition to Terrence Brown, who is leading the league at 21.8 points per game, the Knights have three players who average double figures. Nsiah, who is just under that mark, is averaging 11.0 points per game in NEC play.

The Red Flash enter this game having not played an NEC game on the road. They are 1-2 in their first three conference games all in Loretto. They did earn a much needed 73-59 victory over Mercyhurst on Friday night. Saint Francis U shot 56% from the field and four of their five starters scored in double-figures. Their losses in the NEC have come to CCSU and Stonehill. Rob Krimmel is in his 13th season as head coach of the Red Flash.

Saint Francis U's leading scorer is Bobby Rosenberger III. The sophomore guard out of Quakertown, Pa. is averaging 12.3 points per game. He has started in all 17 games this season. Rosenberger III scored a season-high 21 points in the Red Flash's win over Lehigh on 11/26/24.

The Knights own the all-time series with Saint Francis U, 54-50. Their first meeting came on 1/12/1955, exactly 69 years to the day on Sunday. FDU swept the Red Flash in 2023-24. In their meeting in Hackensack on 2/17/2024, the Knights cruised to a 93-74 victory. The Burgundy and Blue have won three-straight and four of the last five in this series.

The Knights will have the week off before taking on Central Connecticut next Saturday, January 18, at home. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. with coverage available on the YES Network and Gotham Sports App.
