WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Men's tennis headed down to West Long Branch earlier today to take on Monmouth in a non-conference weekday matchup. The Knights began the day with two early doubles losses, coming from
Thomas Linley and
Joshua Oboniye who lost 6-3 to Mateo Bivol/Alex Martinez and
Gryffin Minor and
Tyler Crook who were defeated 6-2 by Adam Hillerby/Gabriel Berner. Doubles pair
Arjun Sriram and
Andrew Nicolae took home their fourth win in a row, defeating Diego Laporta and Gabriael Busato 6-1.
On the singles side, the burgundy and blue struggled early, losing the first four singles matches played. The Knights two points came courtesy of two-time prime performer
Gryffin Minor and sophomore
Tyler Crook. Minor defeated Alex Martinez in a thrilling 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) match to secure his fifth consecutive singles win. Crook bested Fancisco Erramuspe 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 for his first singles win since March 13.
The Knights continue action on March 30, when they return home for a conference matchup against Sacred Heart. Action is set to begin at 1:30 pm at the FDU Tennis Courts.
