ANNAPOLIS, Md. - FDU men's tennis snapped a four-match skid Saturday as the Knights (3-5) bested Villanova by a 4-0 tally at the Brigade Sports Complex in a neutral site non-conference match hosted by Navy. The team-scored dual was played "to clinch" which left three singles matches unfinished as FDU won the doubles point 2-1 to begin the day.
After freshmen
Gryffin Minor and
Jorge Alonso-Cortes racked up wins at the second and fourth singles flights, respectively, sophomore
Justas Trainauskas sealed the deal with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles to give the Knights a 4-0 victory with the order of finish officially clocking in at 2, 4, 1.
For Alonso-Cortes, Saturday's match marked his spring debut with the rookie now 2-1 in his last three outings.
After falling to the Midshipmen on Friday, the Burgundy and Blue leave the weekend .500 with time to recover before taking-on Queens on February 28 at 1 p.m.
