LORETTO, Pa. and HACKENSACK, N.J. - FDU men's basketball partially controls their own destiny as the marathon 2022-23 regular season comes to a close Saturday, February 25 against St. Francis Brooklyn in the final home game of the campaign at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center. Before attention turns to Decision Day in the nine-team Northeast Conference, FDU must first face Saint Francis U (Pa.) Thursday, February 23 live on ESPN3 and SNY - the wildcard game in the NEC.
The Knights are 2-3 in their last five games with wins picked up at Wagner and LIU while the Burgundy and Blue fell by eight in overtime Sacred Heart, and fell at home to Central Connecticut and Wagner, splitting the latter two season series. It was what happened earlier in the season that helps
Tobin Anderson's team out the most as FDU swept Merrimack, the Warriors currently sitting in first place, which gives FDU the tiebreaker over them should the two teams finished tied for first. Graduate student guard
Demetre Roberts continues to light it up on the floor as the first-year Knight poured in the game-tying layup as time expired in Fairfield to send the Knights and Pioneers to overtime, looking to salvage at least of a split of the series with Sacred Heart. Roberts earned an NEC Prime Performer nod after notching a stat line last week of 23.5 p.p.g, 5.0 r.p.g and 4.5 a.p.g while hitting at a 60.7 percent clip from the field. His 27 points in the road loss at SHU was one point just of a five-year career high, including results from four seasons at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Last month, FDU took care of business against the Red Flash and Terriers - first picking up a monster 76-57 victory on the road against St. Francis Brooklyn, followed by a home win over Saint Francis U by five, 87-82.
After this weekend's two contests, FDU awaits their matchup in the 2023 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Championship Quarterfinal, set to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center. Visit
