WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (6-11, 2-3 NEC) defeated LIU (12-8, 4-2 NEC) 4-3 Friday afternoon at the LIU Tennis Center. 

FDU started the doubles competition with a victory. In the No. 3 spot, sophomore Arjun Sriram and graduate student Moric Budinszky won their match, 6-0. Battling for the win against the Sharks on court one were seniors Mehdi Dhouib and Niclas Pietsch, 6-2. In the No. 2 spot, sophomore Younes Adnane and freshman Justas Trainauskas fell short, 5-7.  

Trainauskas began strongly in the No. 2 spot to start singles play, sweeping Ishchanka, 6-1, 6-1. Adnane competed in the No. 6 spot against LIU's Akhilendran Indrabalan, falling short 7-6 (6), 2-6, 3-6. Pietsch had a hard-fought three-set match dropping it to Sergio Fernandez Romero, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (4). Dhouib followed in the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-3 win. Budinszky fell short to Alessandro D'Anna 0-6, 2-6. Sriram got the last win in a two-set contest with the Sharks' Philip Hilble, 7-5, 6-2.
