SMITHFIELD, RI. -The Fairleigh Dickinson tennis team (4-11, 0-3 NEC) dropped its third conference match of the season to Bryant (10-16, 5-0 NEC) 5-2 at the Bryant Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles' action kicked things off as Bryant's Grant Pertile and Andrew Pregel knocked off freshmen Justas Trainauskas and Thomas Linley, 6-0. The Knights followed with a victory in the No. 3 spot as graduate student Moric Budinszky and sophomore Arjun Sriram defeated the Bulldogs' Teague Burger and Nick Lorenz. Seniors Mehdi Dhouib and Niclas Pietsch won their match at the No. 1 spot, and the doubles point was awarded to FDU.
In singles action, Dhouib was the only Knight to take a singles match as he defeated Lorenz, 6-2, 6-1. Trainauskas dropped the second match to Diego Serra Sparrow in the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 6 spot, Linley fell to Pertile in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0, making the score 2-2. The Bulldogs took the lead as Pregel downed Pietsch in three sets, 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-3. Burger clinched the victory for Bryant as he beat Sriram, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Budinszky took a set point before falling in the third.
