TRUMBULL, CT. -The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (4-10, 0-2 NEC) fell to the Sacred Heart Pioneers (5-12, 2-4 NEC) 4-3 at the Tennis Club of Trumbull on Tuesday afternoon. 

Action started with doubles play as the No. 1 team of William Wibmer, and Lefteri Apostolou defeated FDU's senior Mehdi Dhouib and sophomore Younes Adnane, 6-4. In the No. 2 spot, redshirt senior Niclas Pietsch and freshman Justas Trainauskas forced a tiebreak against SHU's Tyler Lowe and Matthew Nagel team and won 7-6 (2). With the doubles score tied one match apiece, the No. 3 team of sophomore Arjun Sriram and graduate student Moric Budinszky battled Sacred Heart's Antonie Hernandez and Ayman Khan. The Pioneers won the final doubles match and led 1-0 to start singles play.  
  
The Knights started with a loss in the No. 2 spot in singles as Dhouib fell to Apostolou, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 5, Budinszky bested SHU's Hernandez 7-5, 6-1 to make the match 2-1. SHU stretched its lead to 3-1 as Wibmer beat Trainauskas in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Matyas Vencl clinched the match for the Pioneers after winning the match against Sriram in the No. 3 spot, 6-3, 7-6 (3). 

The Knights then won the next two singles matches, as Pietsch succeeded at No. 4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, and freshman Thomas Linley won his battle on Court 6, 7-6 (2), 6-4.
