ANNAPOLIS, MD. -The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (3-2, 0-0 NEC) extended its winning streak to three wins after defeating Villanova (1-3, 0-0 Big East), 4-1, on Saturday night at the Brigade Sports Complex in Annapolis, Maryland.
Sophomore Arjun Sriram and graduate student Moric Budinszky defeated Trey Fourticq and Anthony Prokurat, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot, while freshman Justas Trainauskas and redshirt senior Niclas Pietsch won the No. 1 match, 6-4 to give FDU the doubles point.
Sriram, initiated singles competition with a quick win at No. 3 over Justin Suarez, 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Fernando Tardin defeated Matt Jones, 0-6, 7-5, 6-3, at the No. 4 spot, while Pietsch beat Ryan Nguyen, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6 to clinch the match for the Knights.
Up next, the Burgundy and Blue will take on Navy Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Brigade Sports Complex.
