Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis (2-2, 0-0 NEC) captured the doubles point and that proved to be the difference in a 4-3 win over St. Thomas Aquinas (4-1, 0-0 ECC) Saturday afternoon at the Match Point Tennis Club.
The two freshmen, Justas Trainauskas and Thomas Linley started things off with decisive victory at No. 3 spot against St. Thomas Aquinas' Lennart Lehmann and Valentin Baranyi, 6-1. Junior Teodors Pukse was a double winner, teaming with redshirt senior Niclas Pietsch for the clinching win at No. 1, 6-2, and then posting a 7-5, 7-5 singles victory at No. 1.
The Knights won the first two matches in singles, at No. 2 and No. 5, to go up, 3-1. Freshman Fernando Tardin lost a tough match at No. 6, falling in two sets, 5-7, 3-6. Securing the match victory was Pukse as he downed Edward Simo in the No. 1 spot, giving FDU its second win of the spring season.
Up next, the burgundy and blue will take on Villanova Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Brigade Sports Complex
