ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The reigning Northeast Conference men's tennis champion Fairleigh Dickinson Knights opened their season with a superb performance at the Jim Hunt Invitational, hosted by Navy. FDU went 38-15 overall throughout the invitational and several Knights shone throughout the weekend. 

The Burgundy and Blue opened the three-day affair with a 15-4 record, going 9-1 in doubles play, with the lone loss coming in a match involving Knights on both teams. On day two, the Knights logged a 15-9 record, with just a single loss in doubles play. On the third and final day, the Knights went 8-2, going 5-2 in singles play and winning all three doubles matches a Knight was involved in. 

Moric Budinszky and Andrei Oprisor each went 7-1 on the weekend, while Teodors Pukse also dropped just a single match, finishing the weekend at 6-1. Three doubles pairings won cross-flight playoffs on the final day, including the team of Mehdi Dhouib and Justas Traniauskas, who went undefeated in doubles play on the weekend and Andrei Oprisor, who teamed with Richmond's Alaister Burke to also go undefeated in doubles play on the weekend and Taiga Koyama and Fernando Tardin, who dropped their lone match in doubles play this weekend to the team of Oprisor and Burke. 

The Knights men's tennis team are back in action on October 14 at they kick off the ITA Regional Championships at UPenn in Philadelphia, Pa.
