CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team's historic season came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Knights fell 4-0 to Virginia from the Virginia Tennis Facility. The Knights ended the season with six wins, an NEC regular season title, and its 13th NEC Championship in program history.

"Despite the pandemic we are grateful that we were able to compete this season, win the Northeast Conference Championship, and have the opportunity to play at Virginia on the national stage. It was a great experience. We hope to be back again soon and are looking forward to building on our success we had this year."

How it Happened
- Sophomore Taiga Koyama and senior Eduardo Cabral played in number three doubles and were the first match finished, but fell 6-0.
- NEC Player of the year, sophomore Teodors Pukse and senior Andris Gudins played a back-and-forth match in number one doubles against Jeffrey Von Der Schulenberg and Inaki Montes De La Torre before falling 6-3 as Virginia earned the doubles point.
- Senior Moric Budinszky and freshman Arjun Sriram also played a competitive match in number two doubles before the match went unfinished 5-3.
- The Cavaliers took the first singles point when Inaki Montes De La Torre topped senior Maciej Autuch in number three singles by a 6-1, 6-0 margin.
- The final two bouts that Virginia won were in number five singles against senior Moric Budinszky and number six singles against senior Youssef Sader.
- In number one singles, Pukse was in the midst of a competitive second set 3-4, in number singles after dropping the first set 6-1 before his match went unfinished.
- Gudins held a 3-2 lead in the second set in number two singles after falling 6-2 in the first set before the match also went unfinished.
