A Message from FDU Director of Athletics Brad Hurlbut

July 29, 2020

On Wednesday, the Knights Family learned that fall NEC competition has been postponed.  Due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, this was clearly the prudent choice for the NEC Presidents to make.  We support the decision as a University and Athletic Department as this step was clearly necessary to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.

I am deeply saddened that, like our spring sport student-athletes, our fall sports won't be able to compete for an NEC championship in the coming months.  However, we are all buoyed by the thought of being back on the Banks of the Hackensack soon to practice and join together again as a family!  Also, we will hold strong to the hope that fall sports will be able to have a championship season in the spring of 2021.  To that end, I pledge to our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans to do everything possible to enable this to happen.

In closing, I want to thank our student-athletes, parents/families, coaches, staff and fans for their patience and unwavering support since March 11.  We applaud our amazing student-athletes for adapting and finishing so strong in the classroom, for reaching out when they needed assistance, and for working hard over the summer to maintain their physical fitness and hone their athletic skills.  I am very grateful for the type of student-athletes that represent the Knights Family.  We will continue to work relentlessly each day to provide our student-athletes with a terrific academic, athletic and social experience this fall!

Wear your masks!  Wash your hands!  Practice social distancing!

Go Knights!
