WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – For the 14th straight season, the Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team advanced to the Northeast Conference Championship semifinal, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn, 4-0, on Thursday.
 
The Knights (9-12) opened up the match by winning the first two doubles bouts and then also came away victorious in the first three completed singles matches to earn the sweep. With the win, FDU advances to play second-seeded Wagner in the NEC Semifinals on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m.
 
Three players won in both singles and doubles for the Knights in junior Ivan Solans Diaz and sophomores Maciej Autuch and Andris Gudins.
 
Gudins and Autuch earned the first doubles point with a 6-2 win, and Solans Diaz partnered with sophomore Eduardo Cabral to also win in a 6-2 match at the third spot to clinch the doubles point for the Knights. Freshman Mehdi Dhouib and sophomore Moric Budinszky were also ahead in their second doubles match, 4-3, when play was stopped.
 
Solans Diaz then quickly dispatched Pablo Blasco in his no. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-1, to give the Knights the first singles point. Autuch soon followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at no. 3 singles to provide FDU with a 3-0 lead, and Gudins sealed the overall victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Facundo Couso at no. 2 singles.
 
Dhouib, Budinzsky and Cabral all had won the first set in their singles matches as well, with Cabral battling through a tough tiebreaker in his first set to win 7-6 (4). None of the matches were completed due to the Knights clinching the match with the first three singles wins.
