HACKENSACK, N.J. – On this week's edition of The Greg Herenda Show, catch part two of Coach Herenda's interview with former Nike executive and ABCD basketball camp founder, Sonny Vaccaro.

In part two, Herenda and Vaccaro talk about Sonny's first meeting with Michael Jordan and how he brought the NBA legend to Nike along with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

About Sonny Vaccaro
John Paul Vincent "Sonny" Vaccaro is a former sports marketing executive best known for his tenure with Nike where he signed Michael Jordan to his first sneaker deal.
 
It was Vaccaro who advised agents during the ABA-NBA wars of the 1970s, who launched Nike's "Air Jordan" empire in the 1980s, who ushered in the professionalization of youth basketball in the 1990s and turned high school games into auditions for the NBA.
 
Vaccaro founded the ABCD All-America Camp, an elite showcase of high school basketball standouts, which ran from 1984 to 2007.
 
ABCD Camp featured future NBA stars Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, and LeBron James. Vaccaro also co-founded the first national high school All-Star game, The Dapper Dan Roundball Classic, with concert promoter and boyhood friend Pat DiCesare in Pittsburgh in 1965.
 
The Roundball Classic game endured for 43 years and its alumni includes such greats as Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Chris Webber, Alonzo Mourning, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and Patrick Ewing.
 
In April 2015, ESPN created a 30 for 30 documentary on Vaccaro entitled "Sole Man".
 
Additionally, Vaccaro was a key figure in the O'Bannon v. NCAA lawsuit, which allowed players to be compensated.
 
After his time with Nike, the Trafford, Pennsylvania native left for Adidas and eventually moved on to Reebok.
