TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team dropped a Northeast Conference match to the Seahawks of Wagner on Sunday afternoon 4-3. With the win, Wagner is now 3-0 in NEC play, as the Knights fall to 1-3.
The Knights came into play having won consecutive matches over Sacred Heart and Saint Peter's.
In No. 1 singles, Niclas Pietsch was tested by Dylan Walters of Wagner, as the two of them put on an exciting three-setter. Pietsch took the first set 6-3, dropped the second set 6-4, but then rallied in the third set to take the victory 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
In No. 2 singles, Andris Gudins dropped the first set 7-5 to Anatoliy Lashkul, however the freshman would respond to take the final two sets for the win 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.
In No. 6 singles, William Bourne won in straight sets over Ilya Kneppelhout 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, the FDU duo of Bourne and Maciej Autuch picked up the lone win, defeating the Seahawks duo of Boyd and Kneppelhout 6-4.
Up next, the Knights will host Mount St. Mary's on Thursday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m.
