Knights Drop 1-0 Contest With Stony Brook

FAIRFIELD, CT - The Fairleigh Dickson softball team fell 1-0 against Stony brook University Sunday afternoon on the campus of Sacred Heart to push move their record to 5-15 on the season.  The Knights return to action on Tuesday, March 27th when they open their home schedule up with a double header against Saint Peters.

A game that saw the Knights out-hit the Seawolves 5-4 but fail to plate a single run as SBU pitcher Melissa Rahrich struck out nine en route to her fifth win of the season.

Rahrich no-hit the Knights through four and also came through in the clutch at the plate, knocking in the lone run of the game with a single that scored Jourdin Hering in the bottom of the third inning to lead the Seawolves to a victory.

FDU had a chance to put themselves on the board one inning later in the top of the fourth after Madison Emerson and Serena Meehan reached on back to back singles, however Rahrich fanned Abby England and got Holly Mercier to pop up to short stop to end the inning.

The Knights managed three hits over the final three frames but failed to materialize any offense, dropping the game 1-0.

Abby England scattered four hits and one earned run and struck out a pair over six innings in the loss, pushing her record to 3-4 on the season.  Madison Emerson went 2-2 at the plate for FDU.
