SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- In the opening match of Northeast Conference play, the Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team dropped a contest to the Bulldogs of Bryant 6-1, on Sunday afternoon.  

In doubles, the Knights received the doubles point, winning two matches. The pair of Andris Gudins and Adam Chan gained the win at the No. 2 spot, defeating the duo of Ortiz-Garcia and Isaias Garcia from Bryant 6-4. Then at No. 3 doubles, Maciej Autuch and William Bourne held off Lorenz and Pertile 7-6 (7-5) to escape with the victory.  

At No. 1 singles, Niclas Pietsch took the first set against Matt Kuhar 6-4, before falling in the final two sets 6-1, 7-5, to give Kuhar the win. In No. 5 singles, Chan matched up with Wilson Dong, the two put on an astonishing match. Chan took the opening set 6-3, followed by Dong taking the second 6-4. Then in the third set, Dong held on to defeat Chan in a super tiebreaker 12-10 to leave with the win in a classic three-setter 3-6, 6-4, 12-10. 

In No. 2 singles, Moric Budinszky fell to Artur Jakubowski in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). 

Up next, the Knights will travel down to Philadelphia to battle Drexel in a non-conference match on Tuesday, March 27, at 1:00 p.m.
