QUEENS, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team was in action early Wednesday morning, facing off against the Red Storm of St. John's. The Johnnies got the win defeating the Knights 6-1.
In No. 5 singles, Maciej Autuch picked up the lone Knights win in singles, defeating Igor Maslov in straight sets 7-5, 6-3. With the win, Autuch secured his third consecutive victory in singles action.
In No. 1 singles, Niclas Pietsch took the opening set 7-5 against Luka Sucevic, thought the fellow Johnnie gained the final two sets to take the three-setter 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Making his 2018 debut, FDU's Adam Chan returned to action for the Knights, falling to Andrei Crapcenco 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, the Burgandy and Blue were led by the duo of Andris Gudins and Chan. The Knights pair picked up a win over their opponents 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.
The Red Storm took the doubles point with two victories at the No. 1 and the No. 3 spot.
The Knights will look to regroup quickly, traveling to Annapolis on Saturday, March 3, where they will take on Navy at 6:00.
