FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team sprung back into action on Monday, falling to Queens College 7-2.
In No. 1 singles, Niclas Pietsch dominated the opening match by defeating Gabriel Mendez in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. The freshman has now won two consecutive single matches.
Also in singles, Maciej Autuch won an exciting match at the No. 3 spot, defeating Roman Laga 6-7 (3), 6-3, (10-8). The win also marked the second consecutive win for Autuch.
In No. 4 singles, Miki Nobuzawa suffered a gut-wrenching loss, falling to Jose Zurro in two incredibly close sets 7-6, 7-6.
Queens won both double matches to earn the doubles point.
FDU was once again shorthanded, playing without Adam Chan, William Bourne, Youssef Sader, and Andris Gudins.
The Knights will have off the next eight days, before traveling to take on the Red Storm of St. John's, on Wednesday, February 28, at 10:30 a.m.
