Softball Falls to Morgan State on Sunday

CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson softball fell to Morgan State 7-0 on Sunday to conclude its season-opening trip down to Florida for the Dot Richardson Tournament.

Morgan State (2-4) scored once in the first and the plated six more runs in the third to supply Amy Begg with enough offense.

The decisive blow came off the bat of Anissa Morales. The Morgan State catcher drove three--including herself--on a three-run inside the park home run. It was second in as many days hit against the Knights. That hit made it 7-0 Bears in the bottom of the third.

Begg kept Fairleigh Dickinson (1-4) in check when the Knights were at bat. The Knights had five hits and had only one instance of two runners on--in the seventh.

Logan Kolehmainen had two hits for the Knights, which were her first two of the season.

Begg went the distance and struck out eight while allowing those five hits. Baylee Ports took the loss for the Knights as she went the full six innings.

Fairleigh Dickinson has two weeks off before returning to the diamond on March 2 down in Baltimore, Maryland.
