SOMERSET, N.J. - Fairleigh Dickinson sophomore goalkeeper
Jahmali Waite was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Waite is the third Knight this season to receive the NEC weekly honor, joining teammates
Ahu Obhakhan and
Jacob Labovitz.
Waite posted back-to-back clean sheets in the Knights' 1-0-1 weekend, bringing his season total to three shutouts.
On Friday, Waite made one of his best saves of the year in the 74th minute of Fairleigh Dickinson's 0-0 draw against Saint Francis U. The sophomore dove to punch out a header directed on goal from near point-blank range.
In the Knights' 1-0 double-overtime win over Robert Morris on Sunday, Waite made four saves, including two key stops early in the second half to preserve a scoreless match.
His three shutouts on the year rank second in the entire NEC. He also leads the NEC with a 0.93 GAA and ranks second with a .774 save percentage.
The Knights return to action Sunday afternoon in a big conference road matchup with St. Francis Brooklyn beginning at 1 p.m.
