PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team completed its second day at the Farnsworth Invitational at Princeton on Saturday.
In A singles, Adam Chan was matched up with Aswin Lizen of Virginia in the quarterfinals. Lizen defeated Chan in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
In the consolation bracket, Andris Gudins moved to the quarterfinals after his opponent, Justin Chanhalangsy of Virginia forfeited. Later on, Gudins and Luke Lorenz of Bryant put on an exciting match which saw Lorenz get the upper hand 6-4, 7-6 (11-9).
In the D consolation bracket, Miki Nobuzawa defeated Vuk Subotic of Drexel in the semifinal, 7-6(5), 6-1 to advance. In the finals, Nobuzawa lost to William Wharton of Monmouth 6-3, 4-6, (10-2).
Also in the consolation bracket, Moric Budinszky dropped a contest to Jack Martin-Dyer of Lehigh in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Youssef Sader fell to Andre Xiao of Middlebury in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. Niclas Pietsch lost to Carlos Moreno of Marist in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6.
In the doubles consolation bracket, the FDU pair of William Bourne and Budinszky defeated the Bryant pair of Art Jakubowski and Guido Argentini 8-7. Then in the semifinals, the same Knights pair dropped a heartbreaking match to Eazor and Vanezis of Middlebury 8-7.
Also in the consolation bracket, the pair of Chan and Pietsch fell to Aswin Lizen and Anmar Alhaqbani of Virginia 8-5. FDU's Nobuzawa and Sader lost to Jefferson Dockter and Jerome Romauldez of Virginia 8-2. Maciej Autuch and Gudins had a setback at the hands of Vuk Subotic (Drexel) and Sam Bencheghib (Lehigh) in a close 8-7 match.
DAY ONE
In A singles, Moric Budinszky was dealt a bye in the first round of play. Budinszky then faced off against Thomas Sevel of Temple and was defeated 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-3.
Also in A singles, Adam Chan was also in favor of a bye in the first round. In the second round, Chan defeated Jack Petersen of Lehigh in straight sets 7-5, 6-4, to advance.
Also in B singles, Niclas Pietsch drew a first-round bye, then in the second, he was defeated by Aleksa Petrovic of NJIT 6-1, 1-6, 10-6.
In the first round, Maciej Autuch lost to Weston Branch of Middlebury in a tight contest 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. Youssef Sader lost to Sergio Martinez of Monmouth in straight sets 7-5, 6-0. Andris Gudins lost to Rian Pandole of Columbia in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. Miki Nobuzawa fell to Adam Guo of Middlebury in three 2-6, 7-5, 10-4. William Bourne lost to Phillip Belmatch of Bryant 6-3, 6-1.
In the consolation bracket, Gudins came away with the win over Aleksandr Samets of Middlebury 6-3, 5-7, 10-3. Also in the consolation bracket, Nobuzawa defeated Jerome Romauldez of Virginia in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Bourne dropped a contest to George Svensson of NJIT 6-3, 6-3 and Autuch was defeated by Chris Gladdon.
In doubles, the pair of Chan and Pietsch fell to the Red Storm's Alan Nunez and Igor Maslov in a close 8-6 match. FDU's Budinszky and Bourne were bested by NJIT's Zachary Castagna and Jan Cimrman 8-4. The Knights pair of Nobuzawa and Sader lost to Drexel's Balaji Lakshmanan and Xandy Hammitt 8-2. Finally, FDU's pair of Gudins and Autuch lost to by Princeton's Jimmy Wasserman and Noah Agarwal 8-1.
