NEW HAVEN, CT -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team had four players compete on Friday. William Bourne, Adam Chan, Moric Budinszky, and Niclas Pietsch all competed in the consolation bracket.
Bourne dropped a three-setter to Xandy Hammit of Drexel 6-1, 1-6, 10-3. Chan was down 7-5, before he retired against his opponent Hector Jacome of St. Peter's. Budinszky ultimately fell in a close third set as he lost to Noah Rosenblat of Colgate 6-2, 0-6, 11-9. Pietsch lost to Scott Bickel of Colgate in a competitive three-setter 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 match.
DAY TWO
Fairleigh Dickinson's men's tennis team completed day two of the ITA Regionals in which FDU's Moric Budinszky and William Bourne competed.
In main draw singles, Budinszky was matched up with Marcus Smith of Hofstra. Budinszky took the first set 7-6, though Smith took the final two sets 7-5, 7-5 to advance in a close match.
In main draw doubles, FDU's pair of Budinszky and Bourne went up against the St. John's pair of Alex Roszkowski and Alan Nunez Aguilera. The duo from the Red Storm advanced and defeated Budinszky and Bourne 8-3.
DAY ONE
Adam Chan and Niclas Pietsch were in action on day one at Yale University competing in the ITA Regionals.
In the qualifying draw, Chan defeated Xandy Hammitt of Drexel to advance. In the second round, Chan was matched up with Nate Brown of Yale. Chan fought hard but Brown was victorious 6-4, 6-2.
Also in the qualifying draw, Pietsch and Dartmouth's John Speicher went at it in the opening round. Despite a gritty effort, Pietsch lost a close match to Speicher 7-5, 6-4.
Tomorrow, Moric Budinszky and William Bourne will be in action, competing in the singles and doubles draw.
