Peoria, Illinois – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team fell to Evansville by a score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Knights (1-3) and Purple Aces (2-2) were scoreless at the half, but Evansville's Jared Robinson broke the tie with a header in the 51
st minute.
FDU's
Sebastian Ferreira (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) recorded five saves in the match and the Knights defense limited their opponent to one goal or less for the fourth time this season.
The nights also held Bradley to a single goal in a 1-0 setback on Friday night. FDU defenders
Jamie Leddy (Bateman’s Bay, Australia/Bateman’s Bay) and
Alvaro Rubio (Madrid, Spain) were named to the All-Tournament Team in recognition of their performance in The Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic.
Ferreira posted a shutout in his first start of the season – the Knights 4-0 win over Howard – and followed that by holding Evansville scoreless for the first half on Sunday.
Offensively, the Knights earned eight corner kicks and had eight shots. Of the eight shots five were on goal, but all were stopped by the Purple Aces. Evansville keeper Frederik Reimer posted three saves with his teammate stepping in to knock away two other FDU shots.

Patrick Nuss (Fort Worth, Texas/Fossil Ridge) sent a corner kick into the box that was headed by redshirt freshman
Quentie Kyeremateng (Grand Prairie, Texas/South Grand Prairie), but a defender knocked it away from the goal. Kyeremateng had a defender stop his shot again in the 83
rd minute and in the 84
th minute a shot by Leddy was saved by the Evansville keeper. Leddy's attempt was FDU's final shot of the match.
The Evansville goal came in the 51
st minute as Lacey Stafford gathered a loose ball and passed to Jared Robinson who headed in the goal.
Sophomore
Leo Dalesandro (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and redshirt freshman
Daniel Lasarte (Madrid, Spain/Defiance (Ohio)) also had shots on goal in the match.
The Knights will return home to host Iona at University Stadium on Saturday, September 10. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
