M. Basketball Seeks First 5-2 NEC Start in Eight Seasons on Thursday

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (8-12, 4-2 NEC) will look for its first 5-2 Northeast Conference start in eight seasons when it begins a four-game conference road swing against fourth-place Mount St. Mary's (7-12, 3-3 NEC) on Thursday. Tipoff at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Md. is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row.

Last Time Out
The Knights were never threatened in an 86-73 victory over Central Connecticut State on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Stratis Arena. FDU constructed a 24-3 run over a 6:56 stretch in the first half, which gave the Knights a 35-12 lead with 9:16 to go before halftime.
For the second game in a row, FDU was led by a balanced attack in the scoring column, as five players achieved double-figures.

Senior Mathias Seilund (Dragoer, Denmark/Falkonergaardens Gymnasium) led the way with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and corralled a career-high nine rebounds while tying a career best in blocks with three. Graduate student Scooter Gillette (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) added 13 points (5-of-6 FG) and seven rebounds. Sophomore Kyle Pearson (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) came off the bench and scored a season-high 12 points (6-of-7 FG) for the second straight contest, while senior Sidney Sanders Jr. (Charleston, S.C./Burke) collected a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 assists to go along with a career-best five steals. Freshman Matt MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) knocked down 3-of-6 three-pointers en route to scoring 11 points and tying a career high in rebounds with six.

What You Need To Know: This will be rematch between the two sides that took place nearly three weeks ago at Stratis Arena, which saw the Knights come away with a six-point victory in the conference opener for both schools. The Mount is 5-2 at home this season, including 2-1 in NEC play, with victories over St. Francis Brooklyn (88-82) and Wagner (89-80) and a loss to first-place Robert Morris (77-69). They have won at Saint Francis U (83-77) on the road and lost last time out at LIU Brooklyn, 75-71, a team FDU beat by 22 on the road two weeks ago. Julian Norfleet (18.6 ppg), Rashad Whack (15.9 ppg) and Sam Prescott (10.8 ppg) all average double-digits in scoring. Norfleet dishes out 5.5 assists per game and is shooting 47.5 percent from the field.
