CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team was defeated Saturday afternoon at Harvard, 7-0, to fall to 2-5 on the season, while the Crimson improves to 7-4 overall.
The home team took an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles' point by taking two of the three matches. The Knights were victorious at No. 2, as senior
Anna Rapoport (Moscow, Russia/#1239 ) and
Nicole Chis (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park) defeated Kristin Morrill and Amy He, 8-5.
Harvard then won all six singles' matches to clinch the victory. Rapoport was the lone FDU player not swept in straight sets, falling 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 1 to Hideko Tachibana.
“We fought hard today, and it was just not enough against this tough Harvard team,” Head Coach
Jonathan Buchman said. “We need to bring the same effort tomorrow, as we did today, and I expect the results will come our way.”
The Knights will return to action on Sunday with a Northeast Conference match against Saint Francis University in their spring home opener. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be played after the men's match between the two sides.
