TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson University athletic department will host a net raising ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 2, to unveil the renovations to the FDU Tennis Center on the Teaneck side of campus. The celebration will take place before the FDU men's tennis match against Hofstra at 3 p.m.
The ceremony is set to include speeches by Head Coach
Jonathan Buchman, Director of Athletics
David Langford and Metropolitan Campus Provost Dr. Joseph Kiernan. There will be light refreshments provided at the courts.
The defending Northeast Conference champion Knights will be playing their first dual match of the season and will be making their 2012-13 home debut. The Pride (1-0) has one win under its belt so far this season, beating Siena on the road in Loudonville, N.Y. by a 4-3 score on Sept. 30. Prior to playing Siena, the Pride competed in the St. Joseph's University Tournament in Philadelphia, Pa. Hofstra's top singles player, Ari Richman, leads the team with four singles wins in five matches this fall.
Last season, FDU defeated Hofstra, 5-2, in Hempstead, N.Y. thanks to wins in four singles matches to go with the doubles point.
Following Wednesday's match, FDU returns to tournament play with the Columbia Classic Oct. 5-7 in New York, N.Y.
