The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team returns to the road on Wednesday as they will make the short trip to Newark, NJ to take on the Highlanders of NJIT.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.

The Knights (1-9) finally returned home after playing six straight away from Stratis Arena but could not end their losing streak last Wednesday, falling to Vermont, 71-53.  The Catamounts led from the opening tip as the Knights really were never able to get anything going.  Junior Kinu Rochford (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) led four Knights in double-figures with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor and grabbed six rebounds.  Fellow classmate Melquan Bolding (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Bishop Stepinac) added 12 points, while graduate students George Goode (Raytown, MO/Raytown South) and Mouhamed Lo (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester ) chipped in 11 each.  Lo also added a season-high six rebounds.

The Knights currently sport four players averaging double-figures, the most of any team in the NEC.  Bolding leads the way with 15.0 ppg, followed by junior Lonnie Hayes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Harmony Prep) with 13.3 ppg and Goode with 11.3 ppg.  Rochford rounds out the double-digit contingent with 10.4 ppg.

Scouting NJIT: The Highlanders (4-6) are coming off a 77-53 loss at Rutgers last Thursday.  Despite its 4-6 record, NJIT has only defeated one Division I school (54-53 at Army on November 30) this season. The Highlanders have lost to the likes of Manhattan, Massachusetts, St. Francis NY, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Rutgers.  Senior Isaiah Wilkerson leads the Highlanders in both scoring (15.0 ppg) and rebounding (5.3 rpg).  Junior Chris Flores is averaging 10.1 ppg, while junior Ryan Woods chips in 9.0 ppg.

All-Time Series: This will only be the third meeting between the schools with both teams each winning one game apiece.  The first contest in the series took place during the 1985-86 season as the Knights handled the Highlanders, 97-65, on January 3, 1986 at home.  The other meeting took place last season on February 1, 2011 when the Highlanders escaped with a 64-62 overtime victory at Stratis Arena.
