The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowling team is going to be honored by President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday, September 13.
The Knights will be attending a reception honoring NCAA Championships on the South Lawn of the White House.
The team, freshman Brianna Carlo (Dumont, NJ/Dumont), sophomore Joely Carrillo (Clifton, NJ/Paramus Catholic), sophomore Rikki Del Donno, junior Tracy Ganjoin (Brick, NJ/Brick), junior Kristen Graham (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne), sophomore Meghan Kelly (Howell, NJ/Howell), junior Sara Litteral (Chesterfield, MI/L'anse Creuse North), freshman Danielle McEwan (Stony Point, NY/Stony Point), senior Erica Perez (Carteret, New Jersey/Carteret), senior Nichole Toto (Piscataway, New Jersey/Bishop George Ahr) and freshman Jessica Wahler (Dunellen, NJ/Dunellen) will be joined by Fairleigh Dickinson Director of Athletics David Langford, Head Coach Mike LoPresti and Assistant Coach Lisa Friscioni.
The Knights defeated defending champion Nebraska, 4-3, on April 10 in a match televised live on ESPNU. The Knights have made the NCAA tournament six of the seven years since it began in 2004. In each of the six years, Fairleigh Dickinson has reached the final four.
President Obama is continuing the tradition of honoring championship teams and student-athletes from across the NCAA that was started by President George W. Bush. The President will welcome student athletes from dozens of schools and various sports to congratulate them on their accomplishments in the classroom as well as on and off the playing field.
In association with this event, various championship teams and players will be recognized for their efforts to give back to their communities, continuing an effort begun by President Obama of sports champions being commended for service as part of a White House visit.
