The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's golf team staged an incredible comeback at the 2010 Northeast Conference Championships, held at the par-72, 5,870-yard ChampionsGate Golf Club in ChampionsGate, FL on April 23-25. The Knights, who were in fourth place after the second round, posted a team score of 316 on the final day to finish with a 964 (330-318-316) and earn the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight year. FDU was nine strokes behind heading into the final day of play.
Michele Holzwarth (/) led the Knights, capturing second overall with a three-round total of 228 (77-76-75). Lisa Warrilow (Gnosall, Stafford, UK/) shaved five strokes off of her second round to finish with a 236 (79-81-76) to place fourth overall.
Eva Mayr (Schwendi, Germany, /) was the third Knight to place in the top-10 individually (ninth) with a 242 (84-80-78). Jessica Benoit (Lee, NH/) sandwiched two rounds of 90 with an 81 for a 261 total.
Lauren Chapman (Haddam, CT/), who had an amazing 14 stroke difference between her first and second round scores, carded a 263 (95-81-87).
Earning positions on the top-10 performances list for 54 holes were Holzwarth, who is now tied for fifth (228), and Warrilow, who moved in at 10 (236), while also holding a tie at fifth from her card in 2009.
The top-10 finishers from the tournament earned a place on the All-NEC Tournament team for 2010.
