Men's Tennis Loses Season Finale at Binghamton, 7-0

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team concluded its regular season as they were defeated by Binghamton Saturday afternoon, 7-0, in Binghamton, NY.  Binghamton came into the matched ranked 58th in the country.  The Knights conclude their season by going 7-12 in dual matches.

 

Sophomore Dom Hemy lost in number one singles, 6-1, 6-4, to Sven Vloedgraven.  Freshman Peter Skvarka (Banska Bystrica, Slovakia/Gymnazium J.G. Tajovskeho) lost to Moshe Levy in number two singles, 6-2, 6-0.  Freshman Yuri Gricheno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Amorim) lost in number three singles to Gilbert Wong, 6-0, 6-4.  In number four singles, freshman Ted Segerfors (Stockholm, Sweden/Ostra Reals Gynasium) was defeated by Arnav Jain, 6-0, 7-5.  Sophomore Andrew Denny (Bingley, England/Bradford Grammar) lost to Gaulthier Berret in number five singles, 6-3, 6-2.  Freshman Mark Hemy (Suffolk, England/Ipswich School) lost in number six singles to Ruben Devos, 6-2, 6-2.

In number one doubles action, Gricheno and sophomore Marco Jemersic (Zagreb, Croatia/X Gimnazija Ivan Supek) lost, 8-0, to Vloedgraven and Wong.  The tandem of Dom Hemy and Skvarka lost, 8-1, in number two doubles to Bastian Bornkessel and Devos.  Denny and freshman Goren Guy Eliav (Hod Hasharon, Israel/Rothberg) won in number three doubles over Rafael Rodrigues and Andreas Danielsson, 8-7 (9-7).

"Binghamton was a tough team," said Head Coach Ira Miller.  They were good competition to get us ready for the NEC."

The Knights return to action Friday at the Northeast Conference Championships in West Windsor, NJ.  More details will come in the upcoming days.
