Men's Tennis Falls to Brown, 6-1

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team was defeated by Brown on Saturday, 6-1, in Providence, RI. dropped a pair of dual matches today on the campus of Yale in New Haven, CT.  The Knights fall to 4-6 in dual matches on the season.

 

Sophomore Dom Hemy lost in number one singles, 6-3, 6-1, to Kendrick Au.  Freshman Peter Skvarka (Banska Bystrica, Slovakia/Gymnazium J.G. Tajovskeho) lost to Nathaniel Gorham in number two singles, 6-3, 6-3.  Freshman Sven Sjoerds (Gendt, Netherlands/Over Betuwe College Bemmel) won his match in number three singles over Timmy Klanke, 6-4, 6-2.  In number four singles, freshman Mark Hemy (Suffolk, England/Ipswich School) was defeated by Mike Hill, 6-1, 6-2.  Freshman Ted Segerfors (Stockholm, Sweden/Ostra Reals Gynasium) lost to Tom Deighton in number five singles, 6-0, 6-0.  Sophomore Andrew Denny (Bingley, England/Bradford Grammar) lost in number six singles to Luciano Musella, 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 10-6.

In number one doubles action, Skvarka and sophomore Marco Jemersic (Zagreb, Croatia/X Gimnazija Ivan Supek) lost, 8-5, to Au and Gorham.  The tandem of Sjoerds and Segerfors lost, 8-5, in number two doubles to Klanke and Deighton.  Denny and freshman Goren Guy Eliav (Hod Hasharon, Israel/Rothberg) won in number three doubles over Hill and Miles Garrigues, 8-4.

"We played well," said Head Coach Ira Miller.  "We were missing a couple of starters, and guys stepped in well.  We are going to try and carry the momentum into Dartmouth."

The Knights return to action on Sunday as they travel to Hanover, NH to take on Dartmouth.  First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
