The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowling team is one of the final four teams remaining in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, held at Super Bowl Lanes in Canton, MI. The Knights will continue their battle to the title game on Saturday evening, taking on Central Missouri at 5:00 p.m.
The fifth-seeded Knights have one loss in the double-elimination tournament, suffered at the hands of the Jennies in the final match on Friday evening. Earlier in the day, FDU defeated No. 4 Vanderbilt, 4-2-1, and No. 1 Nebraska, 4-1. Central Missouri has one loss as well, so the winner will advance to the championship game, while the other team will face elimination.
The other semifinal is a rematch between Nebraska and No. 7 Delaware State and the winners will face off in the championship game at 8:00 p.m.
Fairleigh Dickinson, who staged a program-record 34-win streak, now has 112 wins, also a program record. The previous record was 97, reached in the 2007-08 season.
In Baker Game matches for Friday, the Knights are averaging 196.5 (18 games, three matches), the third-highest in the tournament.
A special, multi-level stadium seating configuration will be in place for the finals with more than 500 fans surrounding the competition lanes and the ESPN broadcast set. Detroit Pistons announcer, John Mason will introduce the student-athletes during the final round to be televised live on ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN360.com. The championship broadcast will re-air on ESPN on Sunday, April 12 from 3:00-4:30 PM.
Tickets for the Saturday finals are $8 for students and $13 for adults. All tickets are available by calling Super Bowl at 734-459-6070
