The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's tennis team was tripped up in Hanover, NH by Dartmouth College, Sunday, March 8. The Knights slipped to 4-5 overall, following a 6-1 setback where they started strong, earning the doubles point.
Sophomore Matt Gordon (London, England/Mill Hill County) united with freshman Andrew Denny (Bingley, England/Bradford Grammar) to post an 8-4 decision in No. 1 doubles versus Daniel Freeman and Michael Laser. Freshman Markus Bolinder (Stockholm, Sweden/Ostra Reals Gymnasium) and sophomore Alex Jorne (Rochester, NY/Brighton) edged Curtis Roby and Justin Tzou, 8-6, in third doubles.
Freeman got the best of Gordon in No. 1 singles, narrowly clipping the Knights' team captain, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). Denny jumped out to an early lead in second singles against Stephen Greif. The freshman took the first set, 6-3, but was then topped 7-6 (7-1) before ultimately retiring in the third set.
In No. 6 singles, freshman Diego Benavent (Segovia, Spain/HH Maristas) was out-lasted by Bryan Song, 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 10-7.
“Coming off yesterday's tough match at Brown [University], the guys fought hard against a good team,” said Head Coach Ira Miller.
Dartmouth improved to 3-4 on the year.

FDU is idle until Saturday, March 28 when the Knights make their spring debut at home. Miller's team hosts Division II Concordia College (NY) at 1:00 p.m. in Teaneck, NJ.
