The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's tennis team came from behind to take down Villanova University, 4-3, Saturday, Feb. 28.  On a neutral court at Army in West Point, NY, the Knights improved to 4-2 this season in dual match play.

Once FDU claimed the doubles point the match came down to a pair of singles contests.  Freshman Andrew Denny (Bingley, England/Bradford Grammar) edged Trenton Alenik in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).  Classmate Markus Bolinder (Stockholm, Sweden/Ostra Reals Gymnasium) overtook fourth singles foe, Mike Taylor, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

In No. 1 singles, sophomore Matt Gordon (London, England/Mill Hill County) took down Alex Leeser, 6-1, 6-1.

The Knights' first doubles pairing ? composed of Gordon and sophomore Daniel Quesada (Tres Rios, Costa Rica/Anglo American) ? were victorious against Leeser and John Drosick, 8-6.  Jemersic and freshman Ankesh Bhargava (Hyderabad, India/Hyderabad Public) downed Alenik and Zack Siegler, 8-3, in second doubles.

“Tonight was a great competition where both teams were very evenly matched,” Head Coach Ira Miller continued.  “We just played a little better down the stretch.  Credit does to Denny and Bolinder who were the last two out there, had to win, and came through.”
