Women's Fencing Defeats NYU

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's fencing team defeated NYU for the first time in program history, 15-12. The two teams matched up twice, with the Knights falling in the second contest, 17-10.

"There were ooutstanding performances from all the women as we made program history," said Head Coach Roger Cummings.

The epee team and sabre team really highlighted the Knights' performance at NYU.

Freshman Sophia Bischof (Bonn, Germany/Albert Einstein Gymnasium) went 5-1 on the day, while sophomore Annie Kazarjan (Budapest, Hungary/Koecsey Ferenc Gimnazium) was undefeated.

Freshman Christine Forsythe (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) had a strong individual performance, while sophomore Heather Morrill (Pawtucket, RI/Bishop Feehan) posted a 5-1 record and Genele Streitz (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham High School) went 4-2.

"I really expect great things in our team's future," said Cummings.

The Knights are back in action at the Penn State Open on Nov. 21.
