Men's Golf in First Place After First Day of ECAC Championship

Rob Cerabone led the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's golf team in the first round of the ECAC Championships, firing a 72. The Knights are in first in the nine-team field, after the first day of the 2009 ECAC Division I Men's Golf Championship, held at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Egg Harbor, NJ.

FDU is in first with a team score of 309. Fordham is two strokes behind, sitting in second with a 311 and Monmouth posted a team score of 313.

Cerabone leads all golfers, with David Ake from Colgate sitting in second (74). Greg Parzych carded a 79 and Andrew Nedzinksi was right behind him with a 79. Keith Downey (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) shot an 80 and Tom Anthes (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) turned in a round of 82.

"I'm pretty happy with the way we played today," said Head Coach Rob Warren.  "I think that as a team, despite struggling, the guys did a good job persevering. With the way they started hitting the balls at the end, I think that we will play well tomorrow."

The final round of play is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
