Men's Tennis Falls to Army, 6-1

The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's tennis team lost, 6-1, to Army, Thursday, Feb. 1 in West Point, NY.

 

Freshman Phillip Stephens (London, England) won the Knights' lone point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Phil Muhawi in First Singles.

 

Freshman Kyle Eddins (Tampa, FL/Saddlebrook Prep) (Tampa, FL) battled to a 6-1, 2-6, 7-5, loss in No. 5 Singles against Charles Mullenger.

 

The Third Doubles duo of junior Justin Seow (Johor Bahru, Malaysia/Brisbane - Australia) (Johor Bahru, Malaysia) and sophomore Esteban Blanco (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln) (Buenes Aires, Argentina) were edged, 8-6, versus Chris Albornoz and Mullenger.

 

"I was encouraged by today's matches, particularly the play of Phillip," Head Coach Ira Miller said. "With more experience, I expect to win more close matches by taking more close points."

 

The Knights travel to Lehigh at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 4.
