The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team dropped home-standing St. Francis (NY), 3-2, on Monday, April 10 at Narrows Recreation Complex. The nine-inning victory sealed a three-game sweep of the Terriers, as the Knights improved to 6-19 on the year and 4-5 in the Northeast Conference.
After assuming the closer role at the start of the season, senior pitcher Rick Franceschi took the hill for his second start of 2006. The right-hander picked up the win, tossing six shutout innings, marking his longest outing of the year.
Freshman righty Ryan Hennessy closed out the game, working the final three innings, en route to his first collegiate save.
Freshman outfielder Matt Maher drove in two runs, while senior outfielder Ben Cass knocked in the other run.
The Knights visit Old Westbury, NY to take on New York Institute of Technology at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.
