Box Score

TEANECK, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team (1-0) opened its season with a 3-1 win over Boston College (0-1) on Thursday evening at University Stadium in Teaneck, NJ.

The Eagles, ranked 15th in the NSCAA/adidas top-25 poll, opened scoring as Charlie Davies (Manchester, NH) dribbled down the left side and fed a pass to Sherron Manswell (Maracas, Trinidad), who buried a chip shot in the back left corner of the net in the 10th minute.

Ten minutes later, Donny Mayard (Laval, Canada) put the Knights on the board, knotting the score at 1-1 when he blasted a pass from Mirza Rusevic (Clifton, NJ).

The two teams entered the half tied, but the Knights didn't wait long to jump out to a 2-1 lead. In the 51st minute, Alejandro Bedoya (Weston, FL) intercepted a pass from a BC defender to the goalkeeper and sent what would the game-winner into the back of the net.

Bedoya intercepted another pass and sent it to Pino Tubito (East Hanover, NJ), who fed Rusevic 16-yards out to seal the game and make the final 3-1. The Knights out-shot the Eagles, 10-4.

Tomer Chencinski (Thornhill, Ontario) played between the posts for the Knights, making two saves.

Issey Maholo (Tokyo, Japan) had one save for the Eagles before Shane Boggis (Milford, NH) took over in goal after a red-card ejection in the first half.

"It was a good way to start the season," said Head Coach Seth Roland. "I think we had a solid overall team effort. I'm pleased with how we played as well as the result and although we have a lot to work on, this is a good start."

The Knights now hold a 4-0-1 all-time record against Boston College, dating back to 1982.

The Knights are back in action on Sunday, September 4 when they host Villanova at 5:00 p.m.
