A prolific scorer and long-range sharp-shooter for the women's basketball team, Rita Bernert ranks fourth all-time at Fairleigh Dickinson with 1,613 career points, third with 193 career three-pointers and second with 346 free throws made at the time of her induction.
She was named NEC Rookie of the Year in 1990, helping the Knights to their first-ever NEC Championship, before earning three straight All-NEC selections in 1991, 1992 and 1993, and also receiving three NEC All-Tournament honors and a pair of selections to the All-New Jersey First Team.
Bernert led the team in scoring for three straight years, including a total of 478 points in 1990-91, a mark that still ranks as the 10th-best single season total in program history. She did most of her damage from beyond the three-point line, leading the Knights in three-point shooting percentage for three straight years, including a single season school record .410 in 1991-92.
She holds three of the Knights' top-10 single season three-point totals. Bernert was also the Knights' leading free throw shooter for three consecutive years, including an .816 mark in 1990-91.
