A four-year member of the program, Don Hetchka scored 714 career points for the Knights. During his career, the Knights went 69-22, a .758 winning percentage.

As a freshman he helped the team post a 22-4 record as they advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. As a sophomore he was part of a team that posted a 20-1 mark and reached the NAIA District 31 playoffs. The Knights followed it up with a 17-3 mark the very next year.

During his career Hetchka averaged 9.8 points per game, including a team-leading 16.3 points per game as a senior. After his playing days were over, he remained active off the court, serving as long-time President of the Knights of the Round Table booster club, serving on the Board of Governors and President of the Alumni Association.
