Senior Maryiah Laury was named Co-Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 9.
Laury’s innate ability to score was on full display during Fairleigh Dickinson’s first two NEC victories of the season. The 5-foot-7 senior guard eclipsed the 20-point mark in back-to-back wins over Mount St. Mary’s and Wagner. She averaged 24.0 points, 5.5 assists, 4.5 steals, and 3.0 rebounds per contest over the two-game sample.
The New Jersey native went 17-for-35 shooting, a 48 percent success rate, while running her total of 20-point performances to six on the season, a number that is tied for second amongst league leaders. Laury was also reliable at the free throw line, connecting on 12 of 14 shots from the stripe.
In addition to a game-high 21 points, Laury made six steals during a 63-58 triumph over the Mount. Welcoming the other half of the NEC’s North-South rivalry to Hackensack two days later, Laury victimized Wagner with 27 points and six assists in spearheading an 86-49 victory.
