Natalia Toby capped off a successful freshman campaign with a record-setting weekend at the NCAA Fencing National Championships.

Toby took seventh place in Epee, earning herself a spot on the podium and second team All-American honors. She is the first All-American since Melanie Jones in 1994 and the first since the current NCAA format began in 2000.

The 12-11 mark Toby earned included wins over defending NCAA champion Jessie Gottesman-Radanovich, Katie Angen of Columbia – a member of the back-to-back defending National Championship team – and Madeline Antekeier of Notre Dame, which won the team National Championship this year. She also defeated Eugenia Falqui who took bronze at this year's championships as well NJIT's Julia Garcia who was the 2016 silver medalist.

Toby's performance also earned Fairleigh Dickinson a 21st place team finish, which is the highest the team has ever finished. The Knights finished in 22nd place in 2009.
