Fairleigh Dickinson baseball freshman Matt McCann was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday, April 28.

McCann hit .600 (9-for-15) and was flawless in the field over five starts at shortstop last week. The first-year Knight logged three multi-hit games and was a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts. McCann recorded two hits and drove in the eventual winning run (on a perfectly-executed squeeze play) in a 4-3 mid-week victory over MAAC member Iona. His first-inning, two-run single led to a 3-for-4 performance in a 12-4 thumping of NJIT. McCann enjoyed another three-hit showing in the finale of the four-game set with the Highlanders.
